119 Mothers Get ‘Baby Care Kits’ at Kilpauk Government Hospital in Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Mothers get free 'Baby care kits' at Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The kit contains bath towel, a set of dress, baby bed, mosquito net, napkins, baby oil, shampoo, two soaps, nail cutter, doll, hand washing lotion, Ayurvedic Tonic (Lekyam) and a rattle. The kits were distributed to 119 beneficiaries in the hospital.

“Every day, 20 babies are born in the hospital and the kits will be distributed to all the mothers at the time of discharge from the hospital. The state Health and Family Welfare Department has made all the arrangements to distribute the kits in all Primary Health Centers and Government Hospitals,” said Dr S Geethalakshmi, Director of Medical Education.

V Sumathi, a recipient of the kit said, “We cannot afford to buy all these things. A lot of people like me will be benefited by the kit.” The scheme is also launched at the Government Kasturba Gandhi Hospital for Women and Children and General Hospital.
