 10 Ways to Keep Your Kidneys in Top Health
If you love your kidneys, and you should, and want them to last a lifetime, start following the National Kidney Foundation's 10-step program for protecting them.

March, being National Kidney Month and especially on March 11, the World Kidney Day, so your painstaking kidneys remain healthy. Before moving on to the rest of our kidney health tips, start with monitoring blood pressure and controlling weight.

• Check blood pressure and cholesterol.
• Control weight.
• Go easy on over-the-counter painkillers.
• Supervise blood glucose.
• Annual physical exam a must.
• You may be at risk if chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetes or heart disease runs in your family.
• No smoking.
• Regular exercise.
• Healthy diet.

A CKD check is advisable.
