Storyline : Sybil is a young girl who is a victim of multiple personality disorder due to years of abuse by her unstable mother. Multiple personality disorders were unknown in the 1950's, which is the setting of the movie. Her chauvinistic male colleagues like Dr. Atcheson, a highly respected medico who seems to view Dr. Wilbur with little but thinly veiled contempt, look down Dr. Cornelia Wilbur, who attempts to treat Sybil. When Dr. Wilbur hypnotizes Sybil, to bring out the sixteen different personalities in her, the shocking truth of her abuse in early childhood becomes known. Hence multiple personality disorder came to be recognized as a serious mental condition disorder
