Storyline : Shutter Island is considered one of the best medical thrillers of recent times. The film, directed by the acclaimed Martin Scorsese, begins with two US Marshals, Teddy (Caprio) and Chuck (Ruffalo) visiting an asylum for the criminally insane;: their objective is to investigate the disappearance of a patient who vanished from a locked room. The movie has some mind- bending plot twists. What begins as an intriguing investigation ends up as a setup to restore an insane Teddy to normalcy. The movie brings to fore themes like manic depression, insanity and lobotomy. The whole setup in fact, is an experimental therapy so that the administration can call of the lobotomy if Teddy recovers from his insanity.
