Storyline : A city is ravaged by an epidemic of instant "White Blindness". The authorities put them in an abandoned mental hospital where the newly created "society of the blind" quickly breaks down quarantine. Criminals and the physically powerful among them prey upon the weak. A doctor's wife is the only person with the ability to see and she feigns blindness in order to help her husband and other inmates to escape. The story is based on a novel by Nobel Prize Winner Jose Saramago.
