Storyline : Frederic March, playing a fiercely strict jurist, rarely shows mercy towards a convicted defendant. However he is portrayed as a loving husband and father. He discovers that his wife is suffering from terminal brain cancer. He loves his wife so much that he is unable to witness her suffering and decides to commit mercy killing, which he executes by way of a car accident. After that he suffers from the guilt and so confesses to his crime and faces conviction in his own courthouse.
