What is Mikulicz's Syndrome ?  

A condition in which glands in the head and neck are abnormally large. The glands include parotids, lacrimal and salivary glands. Tonsils and other glands in the soft tissue of the face and neck may also be involved.


Cause(s) :  
  • Autoimmune disorder
Symptoms :  
  • Sudden onset of dryness in the mouth
  • Difficulty in swallowing
  • Tooth decay
  • Enlarged tear glands and absence or reduced tear production and dry eyes
  • Enlarged parotid glands
  • Hard, painless swelling of salivary glands of the mouth and parotid glands
Diagnosis and Tests :  
  • Clinical examination
  • Biopsy of glands
