What is Post Rubella Syndrome ?  

The combination of congenital disorders that results from primary maternal infection with the rubella virus during the prenatal period.

Cause(s) :  
  • Rubella infection in the mother during prenatal period
Symptoms :  
  • Congenital sensorineural deafness
  • Congenital cardiac anomalies including ventricular septal defects and tetralogy of fallot
  • Mental retardation
  • Congenital cataract formation
  • Microcephaly
  • Intra-uterine growth restriction
Diagnosis and Tests :  
  • Clinical presentation with the history of prenatal rubella
