Home Remedies for Kidney Stones
What are Kidney Stones?

Kidney stones are one of the most painful disorders that affect humans. Kidney stones are solid masses of mineral salt deposits that are normally filtered through the kidney and emptied via urine. Urine has a natural substance, which dissolves these minerals, thereby preventing them into becoming solids or calculi. Sometimes due to dehydration, these salts don’t get dissolved and crystallization takes place. It grows large enough to obstruct the renal ducts or get stuck in the ureter, causing sharp and severe pain in the urinary tract. Untreated, kidney stones can cause renal failure.

Common Causes of Kidney Stones

How do you know you have kidney stones? Usually only one of the 2 renal tubes from kidney to bladder has an obstruction. These tubes are narrow and crystals have sharp points, so you will have periodic pain attacks either on the left or right of your lower back bone, rarely on both sides. Also rare is blood in the urine. You will feel otherwise OK and have no fever. If you have fever see Emerge immediately.

85% of kidney stones are crystalline, growing in an hyper-acidic environment and as long as the urine is acidic the Calcium Oxalate or Uric Acid crystals cannot dissolve. The answer therefore lies in making the urine less acidic. This can be done by using 2 common home remedy agents: 1. lots of water and 2. a heaping teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda. Usually the kidney stones lodged in the tubes from Kidney to bladder dissolve to the size of coarse sand within the hour and can be found when urinating through a tea sieve.
