Brain Death is a topic of continuously international debate among the
medical community. The advent of technology has constantly making this
definition to re-invent itself. Brain death has been defined as a
'complete and irreversible cessation of the brain
activity.' It is not enough to have the absence of apparent brain
functions. The individual must not have any electrical activities and no
clinical evidence of brain functions on a neurological examination to be
proclaimed brain death.
The fist nation to adopt the brain death policy was Finland in the
1970's
