Ascariasis is a parasitic infection caused by the roundworms. The infection is common in regions with poor sanitation, particularly in poorer countries in the tropics and subtropics. The worms live in the intestine of man, but can move to other parts. The infestation can contribute significantly to malnutrition & diminished work capacity, though it is usually not fatal. It is important to take preventive measures to avoid intestinal worms.
