Vaginal Bacteria may Lead to Premature Birth

Pregnant women who are at risk of giving birth prematurely can be identified easily with the help of microbes living in their reproductive tract, reveals a new study. A study on hundreds of women was carried out at Imperial College London. The results revealed that subtle changes to the bacteria present in the vagina were strongly associated with the mother's waters breaking early and preterm birth.
