| Prostate acid phosphatase - An enzyme produced by the prostate that is elevated in some patients with prostate cancer. | ||||||
| Prostate specific antigen - A protein that is elevated in some patients with prostate cancer. | ||||||
| Prostatectomy - The surgical removal of the prostate gland. | ||||||
| Stage II Prostate Cancer - Cancer that may be found by a needle biopsy performed because a blood test showed elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA); or cancer that may be felt in the prostate during a rectal examination, even though the cancer cells are found only in the prostate gland. Similar to stage B in the Whitmore-Jewett staging system. | ||||||
| Radical Prostatectomy - Surgery to remove the entire prostate. The two types of radical prostatectomy are retropubic prostatectomy and perineal prostatectomy. | ||||||
