5. Gastric sleeve patients tend to lose more weight: At the same ASMBS meeting, it was shown that while Lap Band patients saw a one year body mass index (BMI) reduction of 20 percent, sleeve patient achieved a 30 percent reduction. A 13.4 rather than a 7.6 point drop.
