More foreign VVIPs are recently coming to Korea for medical care. Presidents of countries, CEOs of conglomerates, and famous celebrities are coming to Korea in droves to get medical care. From plastic surgery to skin beauty care, premium health checkups, back and joint surgeries, and treatment for cardiovascular diseases, the medical treatment provided in Korea to foreigners is increasingly diversifying.

Recently, President Serzh Sargsyan of Armenia used his personal vacation to visit Korea and get a health checkup. Although he had previously considered going to a hospital in Switzerland or Thailand, he decided to come to Korea at the recommendation of an acquaintance to get total services, including a premium health checkup, an anti-aging surgery, a stem cell treatment, and a sports examination.

Former coach of the Korean national soccer team, Guus Hiddink, also came to Korea to get surgery for his right knee joint pain he had suffered from for over 10 years because of arthritis. Through Korean stem cell technology, he came to recover his second life as a soccer coach. Instead of the usual insertion of an artificial joint in parts in which the cartilage was damaged, Korean doctors used Cartistem, a treatment that uses stem cells extracted from the blood (cord blood) inside the umbilical cord as raw material, to treat him. Surgery that makes use of stem cells is a new technology that is more advanced in Korea than in Europe or North America, which are considered as advanced countries in stem cell surgeries.

Dipo Alam, cabinet secretary of Indonesia, visited a Korean hospital that specializes in the spine to get back treatment. Even Chairman Yan Bin of the Huabin International Investment Group, considered one of the top six richest Chinese, and the wife of President Almazbek Atambayev of Kyrgyzstan visited Korea for medical care. As such, foreign VVIPs are continuously seeking Korea for medical treatment.

This increase in the interest of foreign VVIPs in seeking medical treatment in Korea is caused by the country's world-acknowledged excellent medical technology, in addition to its reasonable cost. As foreign patients and world-famous VVIPs increasingly come to Korea every year for medical treatment, Korean medicine continues to draw the world's attention.
