CARMEL, Ind., Oct. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sylvia Rosenberg was 27 when she found a lump in her right breast.  A biopsy confirmed she had early stage breast cancer.  Her doctor recommended a lumpectomy followed by chemotherapy and hormone therapy.  Sylvia had watched her aunt battle breast cancer, and she was determined to find a better treatment.  Her research confirmed that SonoPhoto Dynamic Therapy (SPDT) combined with hyperthermia had a better success rate than conventional treatment.  According to Clifford Fetters MD, Medical Director of My Cancer Centers in Carmel, Indiana, these therapies are now available in the United States.

For years, SonoPhoto Dynamic Therapy and whole body hyperthermia have been available in Europe and Mexico.  Now, these treatments have been approved by the Indiana State Medical Board for use in early stage cancers exclusively at this Indianapolis cancer treatment center.

"We feel privileged to be able to offer these and other cutting edge technologies to patients here in the states.  They no longer have to go out of the country for cancer treatment – we can provide the best of Europe and Mexico right here in Indiana," Fetters said.

During SPDT treatment, patients ingest a natural chlorophyll substance which is absorbed by all the cells in the body.   Within a short period of time, normal cells wash the chlorophyll away.  Cancer cells do not have the ability to rid themselves of the chlorophyll.  After a 24 hour period, the substance remains only in the cancer cells, so treatment can begin.   Sound and light frequencies are pulsed through the body, and when these frequencies hit the chlorophyll, it causes a chemical reaction that explodes free radical oxygen into the cancer cells.  Cancer cannot live in the presence of oxygen, so this process destroys the cancer cells in a painless and non-invasive treatment.

During her research Rosenberg learned that combining SPDT with whole body hyperthermia treatments had been proven to effectively destroy cancer cells. Rosenberg continued her SPDT treatments at home, and after just a few months, her test results were all clear.  "I was able to take my mother and my little boy with me," Sylvia said.    "Mom watched my son when I was in treatment, and evenings and weekends were spent with my family.  It was so much less stressful than having to fly to Europe for treatment and having to leave my son behind.  I didn't have any side effects so I felt fine.  I saved my breast and now I am cancer free."
