GAINESVILLE, Fla., Sept. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Salvatore T. Scali, M.D., is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the Medical and Higher Education fields.

Dr. Scali serves as both a Vascular Surgeon at the Randall VA Medical Center, and as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Florida. He brings extensive expertise in the area of education – as well as many facets in the realm of vascular surgery including thoracic outlet syndrome, infrainguinal arterial reconstruction, carotid stenting and complex aneurysm disease, to his role.

Additionally, Dr. Scali's research interests include advanced endovascular therapies for thoracic and aortic pathologies, open and endovascular therapies for renal mesenteric carotid and peripheral arterial occlusive, disease outcomes research and quality improvement initiatives, and dysfunction after hemodialysis fistula placement.

Dr. Scali earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of New Hampshire. He then went on to complete his Medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School, his Residency in General Surgery at Harvard Medical School – Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as well as two fellowships – one at Harvard Medical School to study Vascular Biology, and the other at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth to study Vascular Surgery. He is also Board certified in both General Surgery and Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.

To further his professional development, Dr. Scali is a member of the American Board of Surgery, the Society of Vascular Ultrasound, the Society of Clinical Vascular Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Vascular Surgery, the Southern Association of Vascular Surgery and the American Medical Association.

When not working, Dr. Scali enjoys martial arts, Kempo, Jiu Jutsu, diving, working out and reading – particularly non-fiction and astrophysics related work. He dedicates this recognition to his wife, Colleen Digman, M.D., who is an endocrinologist, and he thanks her for her continuing love and support.
