PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, April 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Give Kids the World (GKTW) is a nonprofit organization designed to fulfill the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses by providing a free visit to theme parks and attractions in Central Florida. The organization has partnered with wish-granting groups to help over 140,000 children's dreams come true by giving them time to relax and make memories with their family.

doTERRA Wellness Advocate Linda Streetman began volunteering for GKTW when her daughter got involved in order to earn community service hours for college scholarships. One motivating factor for Linda is her four-year-old great-nephew, who is undergoing chemotherapy treatments for cancer. Because of her great-nephew, Linda knows how taxing terminal illnesses can be on children and their parents. As she helps children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases, it makes her happy to see them relax and have fun. Among children in the United States ages 5 to 14, cancer is the second leading cause of death.

For children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases, a vacation provides them and their parents with a chance to unwind and make memories as a family. Due to medical bills, costs for hospital stays, cancer treatments, medicine, and other expenses, many of these families cannot afford a vacation like the one provided by GKTW. Linda says, "To see children who have known nothing but hospitals, doctors, medicine, and pain for much of their life enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime vacation is overwhelming. Their smiles and the smiles of their families, who have sacrificed so much for them, are heartwarming."

GKTW has built their own resort, called the Give Kids the World Village. The village is a 79-acre resort near the most popular attractions in Central Florida, where kids and their families are treated to a week-long, cost-free fantasy vacation. Linda volunteers at the Enchanted Carousel and Clayton's Café in the village, working to help families relax, laugh, and enjoy time outside of their normal routine.

The mission of GKTW is to make it possible for every child to enjoy a stress-free, magical getaway with their family, and escape the overwhelming emotions that come from living with a terminal illness. With over 140,000 families from all 50 states and 75 countries served thus far, GKTW presses forward, hoping to give this opportunity to as many children as possible.
