PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, April 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Some people might think that the problems in today's world like poverty or infectious diseases are too massive to tackle, but there are still those who believe that their efforts can make a difference. One of those motivated people is doTERRA Wellness Advocate Paula Hemphill, who volunteers as a sponsor, donor, and Child Ambassador for World Vision.

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization that focuses on the needs of children in nearly 100 countries, who are suffering from the effects of poverty and injustice. The organization uses donation programs to provide emergency assistance to children and families during disasters or times of conflict, and partners with communities to find long-term solutions to deal with poverty.

As a World Vision Child Ambassador, Paula volunteers to help promote the child sponsorship program. She shares the stories of kids and families who live in places of war, conflict, disease, famine, and poverty. Paula educates people about how the child sponsorship program works, and encourages families and individuals to sponsor children in need. She also works to promote refugee crisis relief, especially for Syrian refugees, and helps with fundraising initiatives for projects that will provide clean water, medical aid, disaster relief, and more.

For most of the people that World Vision works with, poverty is at the root of their problems. Lack of clean of water is a big problem that afflicts poverty-stricken areas, and one that leads to infection and disease. This is a widespread problem, seeing as a child dies from a water-related disease every 90 seconds. Without access to clean water, children develop diseases and infections that can eventually claim their lives. Infections like Guinea Worm Disease, Buruli Ulcers, Trachoma infection, and other parasitic infections are common among those without clean water.

Paula spends her time educating people about the work of World Vision and how to help families and children in need. She says, "I have these perfect, breathtaking moments when I get to be a part of connecting a sponsor with a child who they never knew was missing from their lives. It's hard to explain, but it's kind of like I'm witnessing that exact moment when someone falls in love. It's amazing."
