BOSTON, July 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- ZappRx, a digital health company that reduces the administrative burden
ZappRx simplifies the complex process required to order specialty medications, making it easier to collect and save all of the information required to order a prescription, and then enabling providers, pharmacists, and payers to digitally interact with one another to fill a prescription. The platform is currently live in three disease areas, including Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), and Cystic Fibrosis, with plans to expand to support prescribing for neurology, oncology, rheumatology, and gastroenterology conditions.
"The first prescription we wrote was approved within 48 hours, improving immediately on what had been a completely paper-based process for us, taking sometimes more than three weeks," said Dr. Ronald Oudiz, MD, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Liu Center for Pulmonary Hyptertension, LA Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
"Our team spends its time differently now that we use ZappRx," said Dr. Jeremy Feldman, MD, FCCP, who serves as Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program and Medical Director of Research at Arizona Pulmonary Specialists. "The nurses worry less about the prescriptions and prior authorizations for our patients, and are able to spend more time with patients, and less time on the phone with insurance companies. The nurses also connect with the doctors more on patient care, and are generally less stressed about their jobs."
"Dr. Feldman raised his hand to be first to use our combined prescription and prior authorization feature set. We love that innovators on the clinical front like Drs. Feldman and Oudiz are showing leadership in technology innovation too, and that ZappRx is the vehicle for it," said Karen Tirozzi, VP of Solutions at ZappRx, who previously served as VP of Research and Development at Health Leads and VP of Client Services at PatientKeeper.
About ZappRxZappRx simplifies the complex process required to order specialty medications, consolidating what is currently a multi-step, redundancy-laden, and manual process. The platform makes it simple to collect and save all of the information required to fill a specialty prescription in one step; including pharmacy information, payer/prior authorization requirements, and relevant patient clinical history. ZappRx then enables providers, pharmacists, and payers to digitally interact with one another to fill a prescription, reducing the need for fax and phone call interactions.
