"Our work mainly involves functional examinations, particularlycontrast-enhanced ultrasound and quantification of blood flow," said ProfessorStefan Delorme from the Radiology Department of the German Cancer ResearchCenter. "In order to be able to perform certain types of scientificevaluations, we require data that extends far beyond the information thatvideo or DICOM sources are capable of providing to us. ZONARE has reallyconvinced us with its Zone Sonography technology and we are certain that thissystem will be of great value to us in our everyday work."

Zone Sonography technology has enabled ZONARE Medical Systems to bring itsunique, patented Convertible Ultrasound platform to the industry providingpremium image quality and performance together with greater portability at anattractive price to value ratio compared to other ultrasound systems.Clinicians are able to convert the z.one system from a full-featured,cart-based system into a premium compact ultrasound system at the touch of abutton, optimizing its versatility in a variety of clinical settings, withoutsacrificing image quality or performance.

Zone Sonography technology has also provided the basis for many otherclinical imaging advancements such as Auto-Opt with ZST. Auto-Opt with ZSTautomatically adjusts sound speed based on differences in a patient's bodyhabitus while completely optimizing the clinical image and instantlyequalizing image gain and brightness.

"ZONARE is prepared to work with us at a very challenging scientificlevel," said Professor Delorme. "We were very much convinced of the value ofthis system immediately after it was presented to us. Due to Zone Sonographytechnology, we have the ability to modify the speed at which ultrasoundreflects off of tissue on a customized basis. This enables us to assess thesize of structures more reliably on the one hand, yet achieve much higherimage quality. Although this is of great benefit to all types of diagnostics,it is especially beneficial in diagnosing cancer."

The z.one system's Zone Sonography software-based architecture allows itsperformance to continue to improve as greater processing power becomesavailable. System upgrades can be downloaded via the internet, allowing forfast, convenient advances in clinical capabilities, enabling clinicians tocost-effectively maintain a state of the art premium ultrasound system.

Based in Heidelberg, Germany, The German Cancer Research Center is amember of the Helmholtz Association, the largest scientific organization inGermany. This is the first z.one system installation for this renownedresearch center.

"As the sales and shipments of our unique, patented Convertible Ultrasoundplatform have continued to increase, we have been privileged to become apartner with hundreds of healthcare providers around the world," said DonaldSouthard, president and CEO for ZONARE. "We believe our mutual goal to provideexcellence in patient care will extend these partnerships well into thefuture. With Zone Sonography technology as the basis, we look forward todeveloping new advances in ultrasound, bringing both clinical and economicvalue to our customers."
