Women Doctors' Work-Life Balance Issues to be Focus of Inaugural "Women in Medicine" Networking Series September 20th in NYC
NEW YORK, Sept. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Achieving that challenging balance between a physician's thriving medical practice and a fulfilling personal life is the focus of the first Women in Medicine Network conference to be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, featuring four prominent female physicians who have successfully navigated through these issues. The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Café SFA in Saks Fifth Avenue, 611 Fifth Avenue in New York, and is free of charge. The sponsor is Concierge Choice Physicians (CCP), the nation's leading full-service concierge medical service provider.
Prestigious speakers include:
- Dr. Padmini (Mini) Murthy, a Professor and Global Health Director at New York Medical College. Dr. Murthy is a respected physician (a trained obstetrician and gynecologist) and activist who has practiced medicine and public health for the past 28 years in various countries. Dr. Murthy serves as the Medical Women's International Association NGO representative to the United Nations, and also serves a member of the Executive Council of the NGO CSW Committee of NY at the United Nations. She is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and member of the inaugural cohort of the American Medical Women's Association.
- Dr. Maria E. Her research and clinical interests are in cultural competency and health care disparities, implicit bias, medical education, the delivery of patient centered care, and caring for an underserved patient population.
- Dr. Alice Furman currently practices internal medicine in Manhattan, where she is a partner of Mount Sinai Associates in Internal Medicine and an assistant professor of medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She received a fellowship in Infectious Disease at the New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
- Dr. Elizabeth Anderson is the managing partner for Paramount Care Physicians in Virginia. Since 2004, this dual role as a physician and managing partner has provided her with a bird's eye view of the changes in health care and allowed her to explore innovative strategies for patient care. Seating is limited, so those interested in attending the complementary event are urged to call 877-777-6625.
This event marks the first in a planned Women in Medicine Networking Series sponsored by CCP highlighting key challenges being faced by women physicians. The next event, date to be determined, will focus on income disparity between male and female doctors.
