WellPoint Announces Appointment of Andrew J. Lang as Senior Vice President of Application Development

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 10 WellPoint, Inc. (NYSE:WLP) today announced the appointment of Andrew J. (A.J.) Lang as senior vicepresident of Application Development. In this role, he will be responsible forthe development and support of all of WellPoint's systems.

"A.J. adds a highly successful information technology veteran with morethan 25 years of technical and leadership experience in health care, bankingand credit card processing industries to our IT leadership team," said LoriBeer, executive vice president and chief information officer. "I look forwardto working with A.J. to increase the speed and quality of the services wedeliver to our more than 35 million members."

Prior to his appointment, Lang was vice president of InformationTechnology Services at Cargill, responsible for leading a core globalinfrastructure and enterprise services organization. Before Cargill, Lang wasdepartment head, Systems Architecture and Application Development, at Aetnaand an executive vice president of Information, Delivery and Payment Systemsat U.S. Bancorp. Lang also held senior positions at Visa International andIBM.

Throughout his career, Lang has been recognized for his track record indriving technical, cultural and operational transformation and the on-timedelivery of mission critical business programs. He has wide-ranging expertiseleading enterprise architecture, applications design and development, datacenter, network, engineering and testing organizations.

Lang earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University.
