The Company announced that Paul Laland, executive vice president, joinedrecently from Novacea, where he was vice president of corporate communications.Laland brings nearly 25 years of experience in domestic and internationalbiotechnology and pharmaceutical corporate and product communications. Inaddition to holding corporate communications positions at VaxGen, Genentech,G.D. Searle and Deltagen, Laland served as senior partner and co-chair of theGlobal Healthcare Practice at Fleishman-Hillard, where he established and ledthe Life Sciences Group on the West Coast. He will report to Diane Weiser.
Additional hires include Mark Bennett, senior associate, who joins fromBayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals, where he was senior manager, corporatecommunications; Emily Poe, senior associate, formerly of Vox Medica; ScottSantiamo, senior associate, formerly a communications consultant at MedImmune;and Jessica Volchok, senior associate, formerly of FischerHealth, a PorterNovelli company.
The new client wins span several areas of the healthcare industry,including biotechnology, medical devices and diagnostics, pharmaceuticals,health information technology and health services. They include CelladonCorporation, DNA Direct, Fisher BioPharma Services, GTx. Inc., IsisPharmaceuticals, Topaz Pharmaceuticals and a leading Fortune 60 healthinformation, supply and services company.
