The contest is to celebrate the grand opening of VisionFirst's new state-of-the-art LASIK and refractive surgery practice, Lakeshore Laser ofVisionFirst. Located just south of Greensprings Drive on Lakeshore Parkway inHomewood, the facility is equipped with the newest laser from AMO and willoffer the iLASIK customization system. This location will serve as theflagship office for the VisionFirst brand, which has well-establishedpractices in Trussville and Alabaster.

Sarah J. Hays, MD, one of the top refractive surgeons in the Southeast wasselected to join the VisionFirst team and will serve as the primary physicianat Lakeshore Laser of VisionFirst. "I have preformed more than 20,000refractive surgeries, but it still thrills me to restore a patient's sight,"said Hays. "This contest is a great opportunity to receive this life-changingsurgery for free. I can't wait to see who Birmingham selects!"
"Nominating yourself for free LASIK is easy," said Hays. Contestants willgo to http://www.beyondthebige.com and submit a video-one minute or less inlength-showing why they need the surgery. The videos will be uploaded to theWeb site within 24 hours. Friends, family and the public can then click toview videos and vote for their favorite one time each day.
The top 10 contestants will be announced at Lakeshore Laser ofVisionFirst's grand opening on April 18. Then voting resumes until the grandprizewinner is announced May 1.
