FREMONT, Calif., March 15 Vermillion, Inc. (Pink Sheets: VRML) today announced that due to the positive response to the national launch of its OVA1(TM) test this past week, the company's leadership will be attending the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists' (SGO) 41st Annual Meeting on Women's Cancer in San Francisco rather than presenting at the Roth 22nd Annual OC Growth Stock Conference in Laguna Niguel.

"The news surrounding our launch of OVA1(TM) last week and the announcement of the favorable Medicare coverage decision has placed increased demands on our time at the SGO meeting," said Gail S. Page, Vermillion's Chief Executive Officer. "The physicians attending this meeting are at the forefront of ovarian cancer treatment and therefore we believe it should be our priority to provide them with further details on the OVA1 test."

OVA1 is the first blood test cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for aiding in the pre-surgical evaluation of a woman's ovarian mass for cancer and is nationally available through Quest Diagnostics (NYSE: DGX).

About the OVA1 Test

The OVA1 Test is a qualitative serum test that combines the results of five immunoassays into a single numerical score. It is indicated for women who meet the following criteria: over age 18, ovarian adnexal mass present for which surgery is planned, and not yet referred to an oncologist. The test utilizes five well-established biomarkers -- Transthyretin (TT or prealbumin), Apolipoprotein A-1 (Apo A-1), Beta2-Microglobulin (Beta2M), Transferrin (Tfr) and Cancer Antigen 125 (CA 125 II) -- and a proprietary algorithm to determine the likelihood of malignancy in women with pelvic mass for whom surgery is planned.
