Join ANA in advocating for a health care system that focuses on wellness and prevention, a high-quality public insurance option that complements and competes fairly with options offered by private insurers, and a national healthcare workforce policy which recognizes the vital role nurses play.

ANA remains committed to the principle that health care is a basic human right and that all persons are entitled to ready access to affordable, quality health care services. ANA supports a restructured health care system that ensures universal access to a standard package of essential health care services for all individuals and families. That is why ANA strongly supports the inclusion of a public health insurance plan option as an essential part of comprehensive health care reform.

As the largest group of health care professionals, nurses are uniquely positioned to advocate for and with their patients to achieve a health care system that provides safe quality care. Nurses see firsthand how important access to affordable quality health care is. They are witness to the tragedy of patients delaying care for financial reasons and the devastating impact it can have on their health and their families.

ANA believes that the time for reform is now. Help ANA achieve the goal of transforming the current "sick care" system into a true "health care" system.
