"With the potential for a centrifugal chiller to consume as much as 40 percent of a total energy budget in a Chiller Plant, organizations such as these VA Hospitals pay dearly to provide a comfortable work environment at numerous facilities," said Don Tomovich, east regional manager of Kroff Chemical Company, Inc. "Our chiller efficiency program - in the hands of the experts at Cornett and Associates - will enable these facilities to save money by operating at a peak level of efficiency."

Kroff's chiller efficiency program is a Web-based program that provides measurable savings in energy consumption, resulting in a measurable reduction in total cost of operation. Through daily analysis of chiller performance, the program identifies operational problems that result in excessive energy costs. The program tracks the performance of certain parameters, such as the temperature profiles on condenser and evaporator water, saturated refrigerant temperatures, oil temperatures and pressures, bearing temperatures, and purge and chiller run times. The problems identified are quantified in percentage efficiency loss as well as estimated dollar impact.
