OAK BROOK, Ill., April 7 University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) today announced that after a competitive bid process, it has awarded dual 3-year agreements for clinical/diagnostic equipment maintenance services to Universal Hospital Services, Inc. (UHS) and Crothall Services Group. Contracts were effective January 1, 2010 and February 1, 2010 respectively.

UHS, a leading medical equipment outsourcing company based in Edina, Minn., offers comprehensive solutions to reduce hospital costs, maximize utilization, increase staff productivity, and ultimately support patient safety and quality of care. The company has more than 60 years of experience in maintaining and servicing medical equipment. Its customers include national, regional, and local acute care hospitals; alternate-site providers (such as nursing homes and home care providers); and medical equipment manufacturers.

Crothall Services Group, a comprehensive facilities management company in Wayne, Pa., provides on-site management of facilities and hospitality services departments with the goal of improving operational efficiency and operating margins. Crothall's focus includes reducing equipment maintenance costs, improving asset performance, expanding on-site technical capabilities, using technology to increase productivity, increasing customer satisfaction, and exceeding all Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements.
