BINGHAM FARMS, Mich., July 14 United Physicians has announced that it will be "Going Green" effective August 1st, 2009. The decision to take a more eco-friendly approach to business communications will help eliminate paper-based mailings and faxes that have historically been used to communicate with the organization's 2,000+ Shareholder physicians.

"The decision to 'Go Green' with our business communications was an easy one. First, 'Going Green' actually represents an opportunity for United Physicians to evolve and improve communications to the doctors we serve," said Dr. Steven Grant, MD, FACP, President and CEO of United Physicians. "And obviously, trying to communicate with 2,000 physicians is a challenge in and of itself. With more and more sensitive information being shared, the use of a secured web portal will now allow us to transform the way we communicate with our doctors."

To eliminate reliance on paper-based communications, United Physicians will be using My Workspace(SM), the physician web portal - a single source which will enable connectivity and instantaneous delivery for all communications. Many United Physicians doctors are already successfully using My Workspace(SM)( )for clinical applications and transactions as well as HIPAA- compliant email within the growing my1HIE(R)( )Health Exchange Community in Michigan.

Grant went on to say, "As with any fundamental change in the way business is conducted, we are anticipating some level of growing pain with this initiative and will utilize our competent staff of Practice Development Consultants who visit over 400 physician offices every month to assist with adoption. With a concerted effort, hopefully this will result in a win-win situation for all involved: the doctors we serve, and our environment."
