US Oncology Announces Addition of John Osborn as EVP & General Counsel and Asif Ahmad as EVP of Technology Services

THE WOODLANDS, Texas, Aug. 16 US Oncology, Inc., the nation's leading integrated oncology company, announced today that John E. Osborn will join the company as Executive Vice President & General Counsel on August 23 and Asif Ahmad will join as Executive Vice President, Technology Services on September 20.

Osborn will manage the legal and government relations departments at US Oncology, and will lead the development of public policy strategy. Previously he served as Executive Vice President & General Counsel with Cephalon, Inc., a leading biopharmaceutical company, where he resolved government investigations into product quality and sales promotion issues and coordinated the legislative strategy that led to the enactment of the Controlled Substances Export Control Reform Act of 2005. Earlier in his career he served with the U.S. Department of State, clerked for Judge Albert V. Bryan of the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and practiced corporate law with Hale and Dorr (now Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr). He was a visiting fellow at Oxford and Princeton, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Law Institute.

Ahmad will lead the development and evolution of strategy related to information technology and information technology-based businesses and services at US Oncology, as well as oversee all technology operations including: information technology; US Oncology's electronic health record, iKnowMed; data insight and CME opportunities including Healthcare Informatics; US Oncology web-based social networks; and technology partnerships and new product development. Ahmad has been at Duke University since 2003, where he serves as Vice President, Diagnostic Services and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Duke University Health System and Duke University Medical Center, and as Associate Dean for Duke University School of Medicine, focusing on Academic/Clinical Computing, Health Informatics and Medical Imaging. Prior, he served as CIO for The Ohio State University Health System.
