Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

"Our health care system is broken, and Governor Kathleen Sebelius is an excellent choice to lead the effort to fix it," Governor Schweitzer said. "In reforming our health care system, Governor Sebelius will bring a sharp intellect, a lifelong commitment to public service and an ability to bring diverse interests to a common table - much as she did in Kansas. She will be a tireless champion of President Obama's plan, which has already done more to reform our health care system in a month than we saw in the past decade."

"Kathleen Sebelius is one of the best problem solvers I know," Schweitzer continued. "She asks hard questions, expects results and always keeps her eyes on the solution. She's been a strong leader for Kansas, and I know she will be an effective advocate of making sure that all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care."

Governor O'Malley said he has worked with Sebelius for years and has always been impressed by her dedication to solving complex problems and her skill in finding solutions.

"President Obama has chosen an exceptional executive to spearhead the effort to tackle health care reform, one of the most essential issues of our time," O'Malley said. "Kathleen made a name for herself as a Governor who was interested in solutions and getting things done. I know she'll do the same as the head of the President's push to reform our health care system."

Governor Sebelius served as Chair of the Democratic Governors Association in 2007.
