UF/Sid Martin Biotechnology Institute Brings in 10 New Resident Companies in Six Months

The University of Florida biotech incubator continues to expand on its 21-year history of growing and launching life sciences companies.

ALACHUA, Fla., Nov. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sid Martin Biotechnology Institute, the leading biotechnology incubator at the University of Florida, is having a great year. The institute has welcomed 10 innovative companies into the incubator program in a six-month period. It is at 95 percent capacity level and has accumulated an additional $37,000 in sponsorship funding to date in 2016.

Among the new companies that have joined the institute are:

  • Assembly Biosciences, Inc. – new oral therapeutics for treating hepatitis B 
  • Curtiss Healthcare, Inc. – Salmonella vaccine development 
  • AlphaChem Innovations, Inc. –  marketing insecticide for Varroa mites 
  • Amend Surgical – novel orthobiologics in bone graft repair
