TriWest Recognizes Contributions of TRICARE Docs to Military Community on Doctors' Day

PHOENIX, March 28 From annual exams to keeping kidsimmunized, TriWest Healthcare Alliance's network doctors provide America'sService members, retirees and their families with peace of mind during thegood times, and reassurance and support during challenging periods.

As the nation prepares to commemorate Doctors' Day on Sunday, March 30,TriWest joins its TRICARE beneficiaries in thanking and showing appreciationto the men and women who don scrubs or white coats to care for our militarycommunity.

Over the last few weeks, TriWest encouraged its beneficiaries to share howtheir doctors are making a difference at Theircomments and a special tribute video are available for viewing at

"We have a variety of specialized and skilled physicians in our networkwho everyday provide exceptional medical care to families that defend ournation," TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. said. "We thank allof them -- our heroes serving heroes -- for making a difference in the livesof our beneficiaries. TriWest has more than 130,000 network providers and physicians in thecivilian health care network throughout its 21-state TRICARE West Region.These providers must undergo stringent credentialing to ensure beneficiariesreceive the highest quality of care they are entitled to receive. This alsomeans more flexibility for beneficiaries in receiving the care when and wherethey need it and an exceptional level of care and customer service.

Doctors' Day was first observed March 30, 1933, the anniversary of thefirst use of a general anesthetic in surgery. In 1991, President George H.W.Bush signed legislation establishing National Doctors' Day.
