TriWest Healthcare Alliance Educates 1 Millionth Beneficiary at TRICARE Benefits Briefing

PHOENIX, April 14 TriWest Healthcare Alliance briefed its1 millionth beneficiary Saturday at a TRICARE educational event in Topeka,Kan. Since June 2004, TriWest representatives have traveled throughout thecompany's 2.3 million square-mile, 21-state West region to conduct tens ofthousands of educational briefings for its beneficiaries.

"Whether it's by car, plane, ship or helicopter, TriWest representativeshave done 'Whatever it Takes' to educate our Service members, retirees andtheir families about the TRICARE benefits they are entitled to receive," saidTriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr., who attended the briefingand celebration. "On the road to this milestone, we've traveled across ourWest region to educate, inform and reassure our beneficiaries about the healthcare coverage they have when their loved one is deployed or retiring."

During TRICARE educational briefings, TriWest representatives explainTRICARE benefits, including how beneficiaries can save money by takingadvantage of TRICARE's mail-order pharmacy and choosing from TriWest's networkof more than 130,000 health care providers to avoid paying out-of-networkcosts.

"Helping our service members, retirees and families navigate through theirTRICARE benefits is our number one priority," McIntyre said.

Streaming videos of TRICARE educational briefings for Guard and Reservemembers are available on TriWest's National Guard & Reserve Resource Center athttp://www.triwest.com. Beneficiaries can choose educational briefings ontopics such as active duty benefits, post-activation and TRICARE ReserveSelect, TRICARE's health care plan for members of the National Guard andReserve, and their families.

At Saturday's TRICARE educational briefing, TriWest named retired Col.Henry Martin of the Kansas National Guard as its 1 millionth beneficiarybriefed and contributed $10,000 to the Kansas National Guard Foundation aschosen by Henry.
