TriWest Contributes $15,000 to Montana National Guard

HELENA, Mont., Nov. 15 TriWest Healthcare Alliance willpresent $15,000 to the Montana National Guard Association, which will supportthe needs of the more than 3,700 Montana Service members and their familieswho live in nearly every corner of the state.

"Since 2001, more than 80 percent of Montana's National Guard has beenmobilized for active duty," said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre,Jr. "But as members of civilian communities, National Guard families don'thave convenient access to the support network available at military bases likeMalmstrom. TriWest made the contribution with the hope that we can help tobridge that gap for Montana's Guard families."

Alice Demarais, market vice president for the mountain market area atTriWest, will present the check to Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer at12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16 during the National Association of SocialWorkers (NASW) Conference -- Clinical and Community Support for Vets and TheirFamilies. The NASW conference is being held at the Red Lion Colonial Hotellocated at 2301 Colonial Drive in Helena.

COL Jeffery Ireland, Joint Forces Headquarters, Director of Personnel,will accept the check on behalf of the Montana National Guard.

"TriWest continues to be a steady partner that recognizes the realities ofmilitary service and its impact on our families," Gov. Schweitzer said. "Weare grateful to TriWest for this contribution, which can help make Guard lifeeasier to bear for Guard members and their families."

The NASW Conference is a two-day event aimed to educate social workers onhow they can advise veterans and their families of resources available tothem, increase understanding of combat stresses such as post-traumatic stressdisorder (PTSD) and to stimulate dialogue between health care professionalsserving the clinical and community needs of Montana's veterans and theirfamilies. Gov. Schweitzer is the luncheon speaker and COL Ireland is thekeynote speaker on Nov. 16.
