PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 22 Operational executives at thecountry's leading health plans came together last week at Portico Systems'Provider Network Management Symposium, discussing the trends that will drivetheir business -- and the market -- in the next few years.

The 3-day event, held at the historic Normandy Farm in Blue Bell,Pennsylvania, included case studies from several of the largest health plans,all of whom are leveraging Portico solutions for meeting Provider NetworkManagement initiatives and compliance requirements.

"We're going to see more competition for dollars as employers shift toinsurance plans with consumer directed premiums. "The common thread of all of this isinteroperability across systems and data transparency. . . Plans need to dowhat they do, better, and leverage relationships, and diversify theirofferings."

Several of the country's most influential Blue Cross Blue Shieldorganizations presented detailed insights and shared best practices aboutsuccessful roll-outs of strategic initiatives to improve provider information,data reliability and increase provider satisfaction.

"These are extremely practical strategies for managing our providernetworks," said a BCBS IT executive. "We are able to go back home andimmediately leverage learnings, best practices from the conference to furtheradvance our own strategies for provider network excellence. It was a veryuseful conference."
