CHAPEL HILL, N.C., July 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --  Research and benchmarking firm Best Practices, LLC will host its next Medical

Affairs Roundtable on Thursday, July 20 to discuss how Medical Affairs groups can better integrate Real World Data use into their internal and external work.

The virtual conference, set for 11

a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time), will examine how Medical Affairs can:

  • Structure and oversee work involving Real World Data (RWD)
  • Lead and support work done in Medical Affairs, Health Outcomes and Commercial involving RWD Usage (including the Medical Affairs Corporate Role in RWD Governance)
  • Select effective key performance indicators to measure value in RWD use
  • Collect and use RWD now and in the future
  • Avoid barriers of using RWD

"Medical Affairs sits in a unique place inside the pharma industry. It can apply insights from Real World Data across thought leaders, payers, physicians and patients," said Cameron Tew, the Head of Best Practices' Medical Affairs practice and moderator of the upcoming forum. "Still, medical executives must figure out their role in this data explosion and work with other functions such as Health Outcomes and Commercial groups to help guide the work that occurs."

"Without Medical Affair's strong view of the science and its focus on patients, companies can put themselves at risk in managing the burden of compliance that surrounds the data and its utilization," Tew said.

The upcoming roundtable will allow Medical Affairs executives to discuss the changing landscape and learn how peers are approaching their function's role in guiding Real World Data strategies.

Cameron Tew will facilitate the roundtable discussion for more than two dozen Medical Affairs executives based on Best Practices' primary research conducted on this topic.
