WASHINGTON, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hispanic families are now responsible for raising nearly 25% of all children under the age of 5 in the United States.  Reaching Hispanic mothers as primary caregivers and understanding their needs is a significant and timely opportunity to influence positive and lasting change for the next generation.

The press conference will be held on November 4th in Washington DC, bringing together all of the participating organizations to publicly release the research and serving as a springboard to announce ongoing collaborative initiatives and research.  This will provide a unique opportunity for both Hispanic and general market media to participate in Q&A sessions.

The initial research is the first step in a national health research initiative aimed at helping to verify the attitudes, perceptions, knowledge base, determinants and behaviors that influence child and maternal health among Hispanic families in the United States.   The study consisted of over 100 questions across six major topic areas (see below) and was developed with inputs from key government and non-government organizations.

The six major areas in the first study included:

  • General Health Messaging, Health Insurance & Access to Health Care
  • Personal & Family Health History
  • Children's Health History
  • Early Education & Child Development including TV, Reading and Parental Involvement
  • Meal Preparation, Fast Food and Family Gatherings
  • Home & Child Safety Demographic data on the participants include HH income, acculturation, education and language usage.

Please reach out to our media contact if you would like to attend, are a member of the press, or would like to schedule a personal interview.
