ST. LOUIS, Oct. 16 Thousands of individuals taking theheart medication Digitek may have taken tablets that contained double theapproved level of the drug's active ingredient, Digoxin. Ingestion of doublestrength Digitek tablets may lead to Digoxin toxicity, which can cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, low blood pressure, cardiac instability, bradycardia andeven death. As a result, Digitek tablets, sold under the "Bertek" and "UDL"labels, were the subject of a Class I nationwide recall instituted in April of2008.
It is believed that many people ingested the double strength Digitektablets before the recall occurred. The websitehttp://www.digitekrecallinformation.com is a place for former patients of thedrug to go and find out what can be done.
"For many people, the recall came too late," said James Onder of The OnderLaw Firm. "They ingested Digitek tablets that we believed contained a doubledose of Digoxin and have suffered serious health issues resulting inhospitalization and even death."
The Onder Law Firm is attempting to provide Digitek users with a means ofredress for any injuries they may have suffered as a result of taking Digitektablets.
"People's lives were put in serious risk when they unknowingly overdosedon Digitek, and they deserve to be compensated," said Onder.
The Onder Law Firm is currently representing people who have had medicaltreatment in connection with their Digitek use, as well as the families ofthose who died as a result of using Digitek.
