ARLINGTON, Va. and BETHESDA, Md., Feb. 5 The HealthCentral Network (http://www.healthcentral.com) and Sister to Sister Heart Disease Prevention in Women (http://www.sistertosister.org) today announced an agreement to leverage the multimedia resources and extensive online community of HealthCentral.com to promote Sister to Sister's national health screening venues and events. February is Heart Month, and this agreement will build awareness about the prevalence and risks of heart disease for women. The agreement provides for the exchange of original content for their respective web sites and the development of web-formatted videos featuring participants in Sister to Sister's Executive Women Breakfast in Washington, D.C.

This agreement between the companies coincides with the redesign of Sister to Sister's web site, which has been enhanced with easier navigation, richer features and expanded content.

"HealthCentral's multimedia resources, including animation experience, video production, and software development, provide a great synergy for Sister to Sister goals to expand their online educational resources related to women and heart health," said Chris Schroeder, CEO and President of The HealthCentral Network.

Each of HealthCentral's Web sites -- including communities focused on nutrition (www.MyDietExercise.com), cholesterol (http://www.CholesterolNetwork.com), and high blood pressure (http://www.HighBloodPressureConnection.com) -- combines a base of comprehensive medical information, interactive tools and patient-to-patient community support. People dealing with life-changing conditions can access the knowledge of patient experts and health professionals while learning from other patients who have been through and are also dealing with the condition.

"Sister to Sister's mission is to increase awareness that heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the U.S. today, and HealthCentral's audience is a natural partner for outreach," said Laurene McKillop, Executive Director of Sister to Sister. "Sister to Sister offers a tremendous service to communities with free cardiac screenings and follow up counseling through partnerships with health professionals, and we value this chance to further highlight our successes."

To date, Sister to Sister has screened more than 100,000 women. "More than 80 percent of our women learn that they possess at least one cardiac risk factor, and more half the women screened learned that they have two or more risk factors for heart disease," McKillop added.
