The HSC Pediatric Center Selects HMS to Provide Information Technology Infrastructure

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 18 Healthcare Management Systems,Inc.(R) (HMS) announced today that it was selected by The HSC Pediatric Center(HSC) to supply a full system of integrated clinical and financial software.The new HMS digital hospital system will include advanced clinical solutionsfor the 130-bed children's rehabilitation hospital in Washington, DC, and willget them closer to an electronic health record (EHR) for their patients.

"HMS will provide an integrated financial and clinical package for bothour inpatient and outpatient areas, which will facilitate continuity in carefor our patients and decision support for our staff," said Debbie Holson, vicepresident of patient care services for HSC. "Components such as computerizedphysician order entry and weight-based medication solutions will enhancepatient safety and improve care."

In the search for a new system, HSC's goal was to have an integratedsolution that focuses on pediatric needs and paperless documentation forclinicians. HMS' inpatient EHR is CCHIT Certified(sm) for 2007, and because ofHMS' long history with community hospitals, the implementation reinforces TheHSC Pediatric Center's commitment to provide quality, patient-centered carefor the community.
