In his book, Nothing Is Impossible, Christopher Reeve reflected on what it meant to be a parent. He wrote, "...in bringing up children and relating to others, sometimes being is more important than doing. I was also to learn that even if you can't move, you can have a powerful effect with what you say."

Ten semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of judges based on a 200-word essay, photo, and optional video, submitted at ChristopherReeve.org/bestdad.

These finalists will have their stories and photos featured on the Reeve Foundation website from September 13 through September 24, 2010 for the public to view and vote. The winner will be announced around the date of what would have been Christopher Reeve's birthday (September 25).

"We would like to pay tribute to remarkable fathers living with paralysis, like our namesake founder Christopher Reeve," says Peter T. Wilderotter, Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation President and CEO. "This gives individuals the opportunity to share their amazing stories about fathers who, despite living with paralysis, have made an impact on the lives of their family members. We look forward to hearing heartfelt, influential stories to share with our community members."

In Nothing Is Impossible, Christopher Reeve recalled a time when he verbally guided and taught his youngest son Will, then six years old, to ride a bike - a task some might view as impossible. By his example he taught that there is no situation too difficult to overcome. Christopher wrote, "I became acutely aware that virtually everything that parents say and do has a powerful effect on our children."

In addition to being crowned the Reeve Foundation's 2010 Best Dad on Wheels, the winning father will also receive a $500 gift card compliments of vineyard vines.
