The Charles Lafitte Foundation's 5th Annual Golf Classic Raises Nearly Half a Million Dollars for Camp Merry Heart

BRIELLE, N.J., Sept. 17 The Charles Lafitte Foundation(www.charleslafitte.org), a philanthropic organization committed to providingsupport for education, children's advocacy, medical research and issues andthe arts, hosted its 5th annual charity Golf Classic at Plainfield County Clubon Monday, August 6 to benefit Camp Merry Heart, an Easter Seals facilitylocated in Hackettstown, N.J. Over $475,000 was donated to Camp Merry Heart,which provides a recreational getaway for children and adults withdisabilities and their caregivers, as well as inner city youth and fosterchildren. Jeffrey and Suzanne Citron, co-founders of The Charles LafitteFoundation, matched every dollar raised at the Golf Classic.

"The great work Camp Merry Heart does to help adults and children withmild to severe disabilities lead a fulfilling and active life is inspiring,"said Suzanne Citron, co-founder of The Charles Lafitte Foundation. "Eachcamper is given the opportunity to participate in activities they may nototherwise be able to do, thanks to the camp's dedicated directors andcounselors who provide individual attention and assistance. The Charles Lafitte Foundation provides for and supports organizationsthat enrich the lives of children and adults of all ages. Camp Merry Heartwas chosen as the beneficiary of this year's Golf Classic for the unique andmuch needed services it offers to people with disabilities, inner city youthand foster children. The camp offers year round programs and activities-suchas mountain biking, climbing and kayaking-that are adapted to accommodate anydisability, so that no one is ever left out. Camp Merry Heart has helpedbuild confidence and provide hope for more than 30,000 campers with severedisabilities. The money raised through the Golf Classic will pay for campequipment and overall maintenance.

"The camp has a long and proud history of helping those with disabilitiesaccomplish their goals, and that history will continue thanks to the CharlesLafitte Foundation," said Alex Humanick, director of camping and recreation atCamp Merry Heart. "Without this generous donation, it would have beenincreasingly difficult to keep Camp Merry Heart in operation and meet theunique needs of our campers. We are forever grateful to Jeffery and Suzannefor enabling us to continue making campers' hearts merry."

The 5th annual Golf Classic, that was attended by more than 80 businessprofessionals from many of New Jersey's biggest companies, was sponsored byseveral organizations including: Bain Capital, Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, AJDConstruction, Arnold Worldwide, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Garban CapitalMarkets, UBS, TD Ameritrade, Respond2 Communications, Inc., Drinker Biddle &Reath LLP, Duane Morris LLP, Eureka Telecom, Inc., Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP,Charles Schwab and Stephen Russell among others. Activities included acocktail reception, lunch buffet and formal check presentation ceremony.
