SAN DIEGO, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Training, Education & Research Institute (TERI) this week hosted The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and served as a national model and training site for the 42 new federal licensing surveyors during their week-long training program.
These surveyors were brought to San Diego to learn the ICF/DD-H regulations that govern all residential homes for individuals with developmental disabilities. TERI's residential program was selected for this national honor due to the uncompromised quality provided to every individual served in their programs.

CMS is conducting their week-long training in San Diego from April 26 through April 30, 2010. By receiving their training in TERI residential homes, these surveyors will apply TERI's standards of quality to programs throughout the United States.
In addition, TERI's Director of Education and Research, Dr. Krysti DeZonia, has been asked to present training on Understanding Developmental Disabilities: Behavior, Communication, and Life Quality for Individuals with Severe/Profound Disabilities to the surveyors and proctors.
Throughout 30 years of operation, TERI has continued to expand and define quality of care for the residential home service industry. With the training of CMS surveyors, TERI has the opportunity to help raise the standard of care for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families nationwide.
According to the CDC, in 2010, one in every 110 children will be diagnosed with autism. Since 1980, TERI has pioneered programs to improve the quality of life and independence of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities, and their families.
