Systagenix Unveils SILVERCEL* Non-Adherent Silver Hydro Alginate Dressing
SILVERCEL* Non- Adherent dressing can be easily removed in one piecewithout adhering to the wound bed. Suitable for infected, chronic and acutewounds, SILVERCEL* Non -Adherent dressing has been uniquely designed to leavenothing behind but a clean, healing, wound.
With some dressing changes, removal can cause trauma to the wound bedcausing severe discomfort to the patient. Another problem reported byclinicians are dressing fibres or residue left in the wound followingdressing change that can lead to damage to newly formed tissue and increasedpain for the patient. With easy one-piece removal, SILVERCEL* Non- Adherentdressing can help protect the wound from potential damage caused by dressingadherence to the wound bed.
The dressing is comprised of a highly absorbent inner layer of silveralginate which has been shown to release silver ions into wound fluid for upto seven days in vitro .Silver is a powerful antimicrobial agent,effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria including resistant strains.The unique perforated non-adherent outer layer gently protects the woundwhilst allowing the unimpeded flow of exudate into the dressing. SILVERCEL*Non- Adherent dressing conforms to the wound bed for complete coverage whenmoist and can be easily removed in one-piece, even as exudate levels reduce.
SILVERCEL* Non- Adherent dressing is effective against viruses, fungi andover 150 strains of clinically relevant microorganisms in vitro, includingMRSA, MRSE and VRE. Ongoing antimicrobial protection has been proven by asustained and balanced release of silver ions within simulated wound fluidfor up to seven days in vitro.
