Innovative fundraising opportunity to benefit local nonprofit

BOULDER, Colo., Jan. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Robert D. Sutherland Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to

improving both the lives of people with bipolar disorder as well as their families, announced they are hosting an online drawing fundraiser to raise money that will help the foundation's treatment center, Sutherland Bipolar Center, continue to provide research-based therapies for clients. The fundraiser's grand prize is a Deluxe Coldplay Concert Experience for four.

The Deluxe Coldplay Concert Experience includes four premier seating tickets to Coldplay's concert at FedEx Field in Washington, D.C. on Aug. 6, 2017, round-trip airfare for four within the continental United States, hotel accommodations for four near the concert venue, hospitality passes to meet the band members before the concert and a Fender guitar signed by every member of Coldplay.

"We want to thank Coldplay for their generous contribution of tickets, hospitality passes and signed guitar," said Rachel Cruz, Robert D. Sutherland Memorial Foundation director. "Their generosity will help us provide treatment for our clients who wouldn't be able to get the help they need otherwise."

Donation amounts vary from $25 to $1,000 and include a corresponding number of tickets and bonus tickets to increase a donor's odds of winning. The fundraising campaign ends July 7, 2017 at 12 p.m. MST and the drawing to select the winner will be held later that day.

For 15 years, the Sutherland Bipolar Center has treated over 1,500 people impacted by bipolar disorder through diagnosis, comprehensive treatment and education. Housed in the University of Colorado at Boulder's Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, the Sutherland Bipolar Center aims to provide proven evidence-based therapy programs for individuals and families with bipolar disorder who are unable to pay for services in the community. Clients pay between $0 and $20 per week for services allowing them to get the help they need even if they can't afford it.

Treatment at the Sutherland Bipolar Center is provided by a licensed clinical psychologist who supervises and trains doctoral psychology students to specifically treat clients with bipolar disorder. The staff is committed to educating the public about bipolar disorder and to training mental health professionals and offers free eight-week seminars on bipolar disorder to clients, family members, friends and anyone else interested in learning about the illness. Bipolar is a mood disorder characterized by extreme shifts in mood, energy, behavior and functioning and if left untreated, the illness can have devastating effects — usually self-harm or suicide.
