WHY: In November, New Jersey elementary schools were challenged by the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council and the N.Y. Giants to eat healthy by participating in the school lunch program. The American Dairy Association and Dairy Council together with the Giants have partnered to promote nutrition and physical fitness to New Jersey students as a way of preventing growing rates of childhood obesity through in-school promotions and contests. Participation in school lunch at the Horace Mann #6 Elementary School increased by 24% prompting the sponsors to arrange the visit.
