Statewide Meetings on Independence Blue Cross and Highmark's Proposed Consolidation Will Be Web Cast

HARRISBURG, Pa., June 26 Acting Insurance Commissioner Joel Ario today announced that the Department's public informational hearings on the Blues transactional filing may be viewed, live, via the Internet.

"There will be a live Web-streaming of all three hearings so that anyone who is interested can watch the hearings online," said Ario. "At this point, we have about 70 individuals who have pre-registered to testify at the hearings and we do want this information to be as accessible as possible."

The hearings will be held July 8 in Pittsburgh; July 10 in Harrisburg; and July 15 in Philadelphia. Each informational hearing will begin promptly at 9 a.m. and evening sessions will begin at 7 p.m. The Web cast can be viewed at www.insurance.state.pa.us by clicking on the icon for "Blues' Hearings."



Preference in scheduling testimony at the hearings will be given to those who submit written comments prior to July 2.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following is a list of dates and locations for the Highmark, Inc. and Independence Blue Cross "Form A" filings informational hearings. Sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Tuesday, July 8, 2008 - Westin Pittsburgh Convention Center, 1000 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh.

Thursday, July 10 - Harrisburg Hilton and Towers, One N. Second St., Harrisburg

Tuesday, July 15 - Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel, 201 N.17th St. (17th and Race), Philadelphia.
