Stater Bros. Raises $501,707 for American Heart Association

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., May 13 Stater Bros. is pleased toannounce that the Company, its customers and employees recently raised$501,707 to benefit the American Heart Association.

Since 2002, Stater Bros. has raised over $2 million for the American HeartAssociation.

During the month of February 2008, Stater Bros. customers and employees atall 164 Stater Bros. Supermarkets were given an opportunity to donate bypurchasing "Have A Heart, Save A Heart" red paper hearts for $1 and gold paperhearts for $5. In addition, Stater Bros. and its supplier partner ConAgraFoods made direct contributions to this American Heart Association Campaign.

All of the funds collected go back to the local communities served byStater Bros. and will be used for research and educational programs thatprevent heart disease and stroke.

The check presentation event took place at the Company's new CorporateOffices in San Bernardino on May 8, 2008. At this event, the Stater Bros.Store Managers from the Top 10 fund-raising stores and the Top 10 fund-raisingStater Bros. Clerks were honored for their outstanding efforts. Also inattendance was college student Vanda Mittal who suffered a massive strokethree years ago at the age of 15. She is now leading a full life and looksforward to helping others with deficits from cardiovascular disease.

Jack H. Brown, Stater Bros. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, stated,"The Stater Bros. 'Family' of Employees is extremely proud of the outstandingsuccess of this year's American Heart Association fund raising campaign.
